Paul Maynard MP, visited McCarthy and Stone’s new Retirement Living development, Burrstone Grange, on Poachers Way in Thornton Cleveleys, to mark a key milestone in the construction programme.
The Blackpool North and Cleveleys MP was invited to meet with McCarthy and Stone’s site manager, Daniel Blackley, to see how work is progressing at Burrstone Grange. Mr Maynard also took the opportunity to tour the site and to take a closer look at plans for the new Retirement Living apartments.
Paul Maynard MP said: “I was very interested to see how the build is progressing on site at Burrstone Grange, and to hear more about the plans for this retirement living development which will be a welcome addition to Thornton Cleveleys and brings new life to what was a derelict site.
“It is good to see new investment which will help secure the sustained growth and prosperity of Thornton-Cleveleys.
“Developments such as this are vital. They ensure we have adequate housing options for those in later life and enable those aged 60 and over to enjoy an independent and active retirement. They also help to bring family homes onto the market, providing a benefit for the wider community. “
Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone North West, Fiona Brooks, said: “I would like to personally thank MP Paul Maynard for joining us at Burrstone Grange. This will be a highly sought-after development featuring Retirement Living apartments for those aged 60 and over who are looking to downsize to a more manageable property.”
Officially announced this week, the developer has decided to name the site, Burrstone Grange in tribute to an 18th-century windmill tower in Thornton, Marsh Mill. Burrstone is a type of stone often used for fine grinding in windmills such as Marsh Mill, a functioning corn mill until the 1920’s.
Facilities at Burrstone Grange will include a Homeowners’ Lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax, plus a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. A dedicated House Manager will take care of the smooth day-to-day running of the development; and a security entrance system and 24 hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.
Thornton-Cleveleys is an idyllic place to downsize to. Famous for its 11 miles of coastline, homeowners will be within close proximity of a variety of shops and local amenities, with regular bus links operating to Blackpool city centre and Morecombe.
More than 90% of customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the maximum Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running. It is the only housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 years, which every year the awards have been run.
