Residents and staff at The Hamptons care centre off Heyhouses Lane in Lytham St Annes, enjoyed a cuppa and a cake for a very good cause when they took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan.

Taking place annually, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraiser to help those facing cancer. Last year, the event raised £29.5 million and the intention is to exceed that figure this year.

With the aim of supporting such a worthwhile cause that affects more than one in three in the UK, residents and staff at The Hamptons put the kettle on and enjoyed coffee, tea and an assortment of tempting cakes, bakes and treats with family, friends and visitors raising important funds to support Macmillan’s life changing work.

In addition to the coffee morning, the care centre also held its own ‘bake off’ challenging members of the team to bring in their own show stopping creations for tasting and judging by the home’s discerning residents.

Home manager, Lorraine Disley, commented: “We’re excited to be getting involved with the coffee morning this year and supporting the wonderful and tireless work that Macmillan does to ensure that people do not have to face cancer alone. With almost all of us knowing someone who has been affected by cancer, Macmillan is an extremely worthy cause and a charity that we are proud to support.

“It also gave us the opportunity to get creative in the kitchen with our own baking competition. I’m delighted that the team got behind this and can’t believe the skill and style of some of the entries – they tasted delicious and went down really well with our residents.”

The event at The Hamptons raised £225. Head chef, Lee Newsome, was the judge of the bake off and the two winners were nurse, Sarah Monks, and senior care assistant, Beauty Chembe.

Recently opened, The Hamptons is part of New Care, one of the UK’s fastest growing development-led care home operators.
